Skill training on bamboo craft


Domnabandh, a tribal village of Chhakkudhara Panchayat is about 15 KM on Maheshpur –Pakuria road from head quarter Maheshpur block. Village consists of a total population of 748 out of which Santhal- 230 and Mahli- 196, Scheduled caste population is 52 and others are 270. Mahli tribe is traditionally engaged with making of bamboo craft items like baskets and mats of different size and shape and sell them in local markets. Few Mahli families also migrate as agriculture labour to nearby places for basic food insecurity. They are running this enterprise for their basic living .

The change has begun: A case study of Sonpura village of Hazaribagh district.

Jai Ma Kali is a Self Help Group promoted by PRADAN. This group was formed in the year 2002 with 11 members. The group was formed with the basic objective to empower the women and to start microfinance activities. Agriculture is the primary occupation of most of the villagers. Hence, they identified to go for tomato cultivation and SRI (system of rice Intensification) to bring changes in their livelihood pattern. Urmila devi is a member of Jai Ma Kali group and owns 1.5 acres of land. Her family cultivate tomato in 4 decimal.

Recognition of Traditional Rights over Forest Resources - A Case Study of Mr. Pandeya Bodra of Chirungubeda village, Goelkera west Singhbhum

Chirundgubeda is a forest village, situated in Bara panchayat of Goilkera Block. It is 5 km from Block and 70 KM from Chainbasa. Landscape is picturesque with undulating forest and hilly terrain. A total of 74 families stay and 70 Households belong to Ho tribe. They mostly dependant on nearby forest for their livelihoods. Pandeya Bodra, son of late Jina Bodra is living in this village since 1977 with his wife and two children. He was a native of Ghoraduba village and later settled in Chirundgubeda .

A case study on Nursery Raising & Collective Farming at TUNJU Village of Namkum Block of Ranchi District

Karra Society for Rural Action (KSRA), Ranchi is involved in Livelihood Promotion activity in 45 villages of Namkum block since October 2009 as a social mobilization partner agency of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS). It is working with the objective of improving Livelihood of the disadvantageous group and to demonstrate livelihood models for replicating across the state. Tunju village is about 10 km from Tupudana, Namkum block both tribals and non tribals are living and agriculture is their main occupation. The process of community mobilization started in the first week of November 2009 in this village.
